Inside the courtyard at the Carmel Mission with lots of tourists walking around and taking pictures.
Chateau Julien just outside of Carmel and I set up to do an oil painting and again with not much luck so I put that away and sat in the dirt and sketched this scene and made some notes. The Allysum planted everywhere really got to me and my asthma
Just one of many cute cottages and it was down the street from the cottage that we had rented.
Today we drove over to Monterey Beach and I sat and drew in my sketchbook and it was just magical.
Interior courtyard of Mission Carmel. It was a very warm day with a funeral and several weddings
Here are several other drawings, the sea lions sunning on the rocks along side of the pelicans and other birds and below is a man in a wetsuit paddling on a kayak with sea lions following him around the bay.
On one of the days we decided to take a break and eat lunch at Hogs Breath Inn and I tried to sketch Myra Knapp but she moves so much. You get the picture, tiny pixy like sweet person.
This is a corner of the Carmel Mission
17 mile drive several days after we had been in Carmel.
Charming cottage on 17 mile drive and if I could live there, this is where I would want to live. I fell in love with this house overlooking the ocean.
Here is one of the many many little cottage shops that make Carmel what it is today.
Back at the Mission because the wind made it impossible to paint at the beachfront.
I'm tired of painting, but never tire of drawing. I hope someday to become a good draftsman.
A little sketch I did from an image in my camera. It is the backside of Carmel Mission with loads of Aloe Vera plants in bloom
Back to 17 mile drive looking at the Lone Cypress
11x15 Transparent watercolor on gessoed watercolor paper. I painted this from the sketchbook after I returned home. I will paint it again changing the composition a bit. Using the sketchbook, I can paint another watercolor, oil, or whatever I want.
